i can't believe it's not butter!

mad crazy in love with this skirt!!!

debts, but no regrets.

i own a credit card. plain and simply this is the most dangerous thing i have ever owned. i am stuck in a mountain of debt and im finding it hard to make my way out :( but despite this i don't regret the reasons as to why i happen to be stuck with this debt.

due to this unfortunate situation i am obliged to put my little lost laundry on hold for a month or so while i work off the weight on my shoulders. DON'T WORRY THOUGH i am still contributing to my store little by little and there will still be opportunities to win giveaways and prizes!!

on a brighter note to market, to market, i'm going to market!! yes, hopefully in early september i will be bringing all my wonderful finds to the Bondi markets with a friend who makes fascinators. we will be sharing a stall and selling our wonderful stuff, just in time for spring too! stay tuned for confirmed dates and times! i have been working on all these adorable denim cut off shorts with a cheeky little ruffled behind. i have cut up some best of quality high waisted jeans and used my trusty little sewing machine to add adorable ruffles along the bum with vintage fabrics. these will all be ready for the markets just in time for spring! hopefully i will have a range of 20 or more of all different denims, fabrics and sizes to suit any derrier!!

i have recently joined cult fashion website lookbook.nu which is exciting cuz it means i can express myself with a bit of vintage style and hopefully expand my clientelle base. almost everything i wear in lookbook.nu will be avaliable for purchase in The Lost Laundry!! i absolutely love this site. it's a place where those fashion savvy souls can come together and share what they're about. gee there are some talented fashionistas out there!! it's a little dangerous because i spend way too much time browsing these pages :D

i'd love to feel your support with some hyping love :)

LOOKBOOK.nu: ".life, love and lacey gloves." by Pernilla Furey:

i'm sorry i've failed at blogging consistantly. it's just hard to find the time when you work a full time job and are trying to launch a small business. but i promise i'll be documenting much more of my progress along the way :)

therefore i will love you and leave you with a few pics of my 'something cheeky' little frilly denim shorts

p.s focusing on paying off my dredit card means i can eventually work less and devote most of my time to The Lost Laundry and try to bring you beautiful people the best of my vintage world!! stay tuned :D

craftnapped.

today i was literally kidnapped by craft. i was happily moseying along, doing my thing, when all of a sudden !!!BAM!!! a crazy craft attack cam and bowled me down. so how did this happen? i hear you ask. well, it goes like this..

i had just finished measuring the items i posted in store tonight (photos below) and i took a quick break in my day to have a quick read of the latest vogue. here i came across an article about a lady who makes basically everything from teddy bears to furniture upholstery, and does it on a budget. myself and this lady (Kelly Doust, author of bestseller DIY book The Crafty Minx, check out her blog the crafty minx) had two things in common. we both were on a budget and we both like to make things. so considering myself a bit of a Suzie homemaker and on an inspiration high i decided to turn the house upside-down in search of suitable materials.

I tend to alter the hemline on a lot of the vintage pieces i sell online so they are slightly more wearable and fit more comfortably into our modern perception on fashion. due to this i have ALOT of spare material floating around the house including chiffon, denim and luxe cotton. i decided to try and construct an envelope pencil casey type thingy out of different materials that could be used as anything from a makeup case to a clutch.
so off i went armed with chalk, pins, a sewing machine and a tape measure. determined to make something from scratch AND with vintage recycled fabrics...

5 hours, 4 attempts, 2 cups of coffee and 1 pin in Christians foot later, this is what i came up with..

... a couple of somewhat acceptable envelope bag thingy's that still needs a button or something to finish them off..

but the point i had fun doing it! even if it took all day. and with each one i made i got a little better. so i got to thinking, if i get good enough, these little vintage recycled goodies could perhaps go into my store! if not then they might make good gifts. i know that i much prefer something handmade and vintage! at least id be doing something with all the fabric that is stuffed into every possible space in my house and almost forgotten about!

so i chucked this on just before i went out to get my morning coffee from Sparrow, an adorable cafe that is just around the corner form me. plus this was before i dived headfirst into craft mania and didn't realise i wouldn't leave the house again today..

(blazer: vintage Country Road. jumper: vintage. scarf: H&M. ring: Diva. tights: Joy. boots: OFFICE)

there are some new brill vintage dresses that i listed in The Lost Laundry tonight so please please make sure you take a peek! these babes are some that you just can't miss out on!! (velvet included!!)

my place is a MESS! time to reorganize after my exploded craft bomb!
till next time..

cheap thrills.

i aint no millionaire. i desperately wish i was. but thats ok, i got everything else i need including a beautiful man (who had knee surgery yesterday and is housebound, which is ok by me cuz im with him all the time :D), a loving family and an array of adorable friends.... ANYWAY, my point is that in these times of not being a millionaire i have to live a little on the cheap side. lucky for me there are sales EVERYWHERE and i'm in bargain heaven.

today i found these three brilliant rings from Diva for only $10!!!!!!!

i was superstoked because orginially they were all over $15 each! i managed to save about $40!! (quick hurry in while this offer still stands). they remind me on samantha wills jewellery which i am so in love with. her girly brasen oversize designs are just brilliant and make the most perfect statement! i have been hunting and watching on ebay for some of her pieces all week, particularly her empress ring. hopefully i will score!! otherwise today everything i bought seemed to be on sale. yep it's definately my favourite time of year!!

this is what i wore to the shops today while still floating within my understated minimalistic outlook on fashion

(cardi: thrifted. t-shirt: agent ninty nine. shorts: vintage cut off levi 501's. belt: vintage. necklace: mum's from 70's.)

i paired this outfit with my FAVOURITE pair of pixie ankle boots ever!

 (shoes: OFFICE)
i got these babies from OFFICE shoes when i worked there in london. i love them SOOO much that i bought two pairs. speaking of being cheap these ones are falling to bits and i recently got them resoled to try make them last longer. honestly the best shoes in the world (ok maybe not the WHOLE world)

that was my day in a nutshell. i hope you all had a day just as pleasant (but hopefully not as cheap) as mine

yellow.

(blazer: thrifted. top: vintage. necklace: thrifted. jeans: witchery)

it's quite often that i feel most comfortable and stylish in a minimalistic outfit constructed of basics and a dash of colour. this would definately explain my new found obsession with brilliant minimalistic label, Bassike. i dream and dream of owning a long sleeve grey contrasting shoulder Bassike dress. maybe when i pay my credit card off!! in this case a buttery sunshine yellow gauzy top took the cake as far as my splash of colour goes. i love yellow. i't absolutely brightens up my day! i'm desperate for a tiffany's yellow diamond! (too bad they are about $50,000). one day.. one day..

outfit post number 1.

ok, so, i have not yet done an outfit post. This was my base outfit for my JUNE shoot the other day. this is also something I would be caught down the street in teamed with a pair of tan flat ankle boots and a chunky cardi. heregoes!!!

(glasses: vintage. earrings: diva. top: thrifted. belt: vintage. shorts: vintage levi 501's. stockings: forever new)

YAY! first outfit post. and so it begins!

rainy winter days.

i LOVE the rain. it's the only weather that can give me goosebumps (and not just because it's cold). There is something about the rain that says STOP! take a few deep breaths and re centre yourself. I have done nothing but think and plan and ponder about the future of The Lost Laundry over the last few days and MAN am i excited :D

My short term goals include:
-Reaching 5,000 facebook fans in the next two months.
-Finding the perfect recycled brown paper bag for postage.
-Creating my best giveaway ever!
-Ordering some seriously needed (and wanted) softboxes.
-Paying off my credit card so i can focus more money into The Lost Laundry (naughty i know).
-Making my fans super happy with their products
and
-Filling my store with velvet. velvet velVET VELVET!!!!!

My long term goals include:
-Renting an apartment big enough for all my stock AND me.
-Hopefully getting a spread in magazine.
-To become known internationally
-One day open a STORE, yes my very own store.

I'm so happy and excited because little things are gradually falling into place and man do i LOVE what i do :D

I have spent a busy day shooting the beginning of the new range for JUNE. Here is a sneaky peek of whats soon to be instore! hope you love it as much as i do :)

goodness gracious.

oh.my.god. i have been busybusybusy since 9am and i'm STILL not finished with my day and it's 10.30pm! i was so busy i didnt even consume any chocolate which is a massive thing for me not to do! My day started with a round of the oppies which moved onto some serious dress altering which moved onto measuring which moved onto posting people buys which moved onto listing which moved onto where i am now. blogging. Not only has my day been massive but my week has been full on too.
i dunno if you have noticed but recently i have consistantly had up to 40 items listed in the store. i currently have SO much stock that neither i or any of my housemates can safely move about the apartment without knocking something over or getting something caught on our heels. so the 'sell all my current stock' intervention has begun. don't be surprised to find some brilliant bargains in the store as EVERYTHING MUST GO!!!!!
recently i drew The Lost Laundry prize which was won by Lisa Beaumont! well dont Lisa who is one of our UK followers.. i hope she likes her prize! Thank you to everyone who suggested my page to their friends! if i could bottle a little love and send it to all of you i would!! i am currently devising a bigger and better giveaway for JUNE so make sure you look out for it!!
the stock i got today is super AWESOME with a whole lot of lacy and velvety fabrics to be hitting the store. I can't wait to get it all onto facey so you lovelies can have a peek! i think June will be a real winner!
the last few weeks have been rain rain raining and i have to say i've been suffering a mild case of cabin fever. at least it's kept me in the house so i can work on listings and improving the store :) on a brighter note we have been blessed with some breathtaking stormy sunsets which i absolutely had to run out and snap!
pledge (our next door neighbour) graced us with the presence of his favourite reptillian friend silvia the snake which kept us entertained for the most of 2 hours. Little did he know that Jodie is not terribly fond of snakes which was rather more entertaining than the snake itself.
i'm super pumped for this friday night because christians best friend who is a DJ is playing a gig at the cross. it has been SOOOOO long since i have had a night out dancing, or even a night out at all. I know i have lots to get done but i feel as though i deserve at least one night out, and hopefully everyone will be there which will make it even better. Also tomorrow i'm having a glass of red with the lovely Sarah Hendo so we can sit and complain about our overly busy lives (she just opened a cafe in north bondi) which i am really looking forward to!
my lovely lady Fiona left for New York this week. She got into an art school and will be there for a few months. I miss her already and wish her the best of luck with everything.
dad's birthday is this saturday. I'm yet to get him a gift. anyone got any suggesttions? Mum has booked us into Toshi's which is my FAVOURITE EVER japanese restaurant. i miss my family i can't wait to see them. My poor sis Karina has had a serious case of the chicken pox i hope she will be better by the weekend!
anywho my eyes wont stay open and there is a handsome man warming the bed for me, so ill leave you with some snapshots of my week.
BIG LOVE xo

why is it so hard to find the perfect pair of jeans?

(coffee and breakfast at Brave Cafe)

it absolutely baffles me how it's so impossible to find a pair of jeans that ACTUALLY FIT. i tried on many a pair today to try and conquest the need for some denims and suited my derriere! no.such.luck. can anybody recommend a brand that has not failed them yet??!

otherwise today was filled with an unsuccessful shopping trip. sometimes it seems that when you picture something that you want in your mind you can't find anything that even comes close. I've been on the hunt for a chunky kinda cardi to keep me snuggly in these nippy colder months and something of the like was just nowhere to be found! you would think that coming into winter cardi's of the chunky kind be would turning up in the fashion world left right and centre!! im headed to the home town on sunday where i will go for a cardi search in the local oppies. i'm sure they will not fail me!

GUESS WHAT! my Lost Laundry splash page is up and running yeeewww!!!.. so now you can go to the web address on my card and actually find something there! it's a strategic page that will direct you to all elements of my business and i'm so stoked with it!!! a MASSIVE thanks to Marky and all the bril guys at macdaddy for getting it all set up.. i owe you guys :)

it's sams birthday today HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM and i briefly went and said happy birthday whilst he was celebrating at his cafe/store, Porch&Parlour, which is TOTALLY BRILL! how bloody cute is this wooden butterfly badge that i picked up there the other day!!

(wooden butterfly badge RRP$35 from Porch&Parlour)

Anyway peeps i'm pretty tired and i have ALOT to do tomorrow (including photographing the rest of the new range) so i gotta get some Z's..

i heart my new camera.

tick tick tick tick. thats the continuous noise that resonates within my head when i know i have 1000 things that i need to get done. today the ticking never stopped and i still hear it faintly in the back of my brain! the list is hardly shorter despite running around trying to reduce it!

i was up early in an endeavour to start sewing. i got through a couple of items before all my flatmates had awoken and brought our place back to life. i also photographed my new Lost Laundry giveaway and posted it on facebook. it's BRILLIANT! you really must enter. i want to keep it all to myself! what you will be possibly winning is a brand new nude angora beret and scarf from Forever New plus a brand new O.P.I nail polish in "coney island cotton candy" all at the RRP of $75! .. the picture better describes it :) so to enter just go to the facebook page and follow the instructions!

Anyway after i tried to get a few things done i went to see Marky Mark (of macdaddy) for the approval of the web page he has designed for me (those of you who have recently recieved one of The Lost Laundry's items will have recieved a business card with my web address on there) which is very nearly up and running.. the address is www.thelostlaundry.com.au and my site should be ready for your eyes in the next few days! ill be sure to let everyonoe know as soon as it is :)

other than working today i have been running around with my camera taking pictures of eveything! even stupid boring things.. here are a few silly examples...

some bondi flora.

our housemate fishbowl

the blouses still to be photographed for the MAY collection

Bondi Sunset (from yesterday)

anyway i desperately need to clean my room! (i know i know i wont do it) but i'm gonna at least try. so i'm gonna love you and leave you. Have a lovely snuggly evening at this turn of the seasons!!

wow.

Today has been a fantastic day. you know, those days that just happen when everything falls into place. I don't want this day to end!! but i guess you wouldn't appreciate the good days if you never had bad ones.
It all started with a morning that breezed. I got photos done for The Lost Laundry store within an hour and a half!! I photographed 14 items in total which would usual take me 2-2.5 hours. After my roll of a morning the lens for my DSLR (which I've had for months now) arrived and clicked perfectly into my camera. It's a canon EFS lens which i scored off eBay (where else) for a very reasonably price!!
Jodie, my housemate, and i then decided to have a coffee and some grub at The Depot where i work. We leisurely sat and laughed and sipped coffee with our friend Clint who is currently in the process of moving to Bondi from Bowral (my home town). It's gonna be so much fun to have him close by!!
The day progressed to a successful shopping trip to Bondi Junction where i managed to score some great stuff! A CF, SF card for my camera, a brilliant new giveaway for all my lovely facebook followers (this will be photographed and posted on facebook tomorrow so stay tuned) and a whole lot of thread to alter and upgrade some of my brill new stock. Oh and Jodie and myself managed to squeeze in the grocery shopping!
With my camera set up and the sun suggesting a stunning sunset i ventured down to the beach and spent almost and hour photographing random things (see photo above^^). It was so beautiful to sit and watch the sunset on a crisp autumn afternoon. I hope there are at least a few more days to be spent like this before winter really sets in!!..
anyway here are a couple piccies of the new range! hope you love it as much as i do :)...

till next amigos!

what time is it? BLOG TIME

ok, so, i haven't blogged in AGES and it's a little hopeless of me but it seems i can never find the time. Today is a rainy and cold day in ye old bondi. I tried to photograph the new stock but it's just not going right and is frustrating me so im gonna leave it till my next day off.

All the flatties (Luke, Jodie and Christian) are here but no one can think of something to do! we tried to decide on a movie to go and see but that didnt happen.. and now it seems that everyone has peeled off to do their own thing, so therefor i'm left to my own devices, blog writing.

so i guess if you follow facebook you would know that i got my BUSINESS CARDS! yep im super stoked Mark has done an amazing job with them. ive sent one out in each package that has been sent to all the buyers of the last range. I have 1000 to use as i wish! don't be surprised if one magically ends up in your pocket or wallet :)

also Marky is working on a splash page for me and i'm super stoked about that too! just means that you lot can find my store and whatnot all the more easily! stay posted for the release of www.thelostlaundry.com.au

I really am excited about my new stock release. From this point on i'm just gonna classify each range under each month because i am building up a real stock backup and just need to keep pumping it out! i have so much great stuff i wanna keep it all! but if i kept it then there would be no point to the store ;)

I totally need some new accessories for my shoots to spice them up a little.. i found this awesome white fur russian hat and this straw boat hat that i can guarantee will be popping up on the facebook page. I'm also building an accessories range that will be in store soon so stay tuned for it!!

anyway the flatties and myself have decided that we will watch simpsons episodes to quench our boredom, so till nextime vintage lovers,

Pernilla and The Lost Laundry

(shirt, vintage "Harry Who" hat, vintage straw boat hat)
